Four further systems are in scoping or active development. Each addresses a specific operational problem in UK postgraduate medical training, each is being built by people who do the underlying work, and each will ship with the same compliance and craft standards as the published products. CESR Specialty Layers

Specialty-specific extensions to the universal CESR Evidence System — beginning with the highest-volume Portfolio Pathway specialties.

Each layer adds the actual Higher Level Learning Outcomes (HLLOs) for one specialty, populated from current GMC Specialty Specific Guidance, alongside specialty-specific evidence guidance, worked exemplars in clinical context, specialty-tuned reflection prompts, and the failure modes most commonly cited in college feedback for that specialty. Layers extend the universal core rather than replacing it, and are sold as named specialty kits (e.g. "CESR Anaesthetics") for clean discovery and SEO.

Audience
Portfolio Pathway applicants in specific specialties — Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Anaesthetics, and others on a rolling basis.
Estimated launch
First specialty in scoping. Initial layer planned for late 2026, with additional specialties shipping on a rolling basis through 2027.
Format
  • Word + Excel layer
  • Specialty HLLO matrix
  • Specialty-specific exemplars

Reflective Practice Library

A multi-specialty library of structured reflection prompt frameworks for UK postgraduate trainees — for ePortfolio, ARCP, MSF, and the working artefacts of training.

Extends the architecture from CESR System Component 04 into a standalone product covering the full reflection taxonomy: case-based discussions, Mini-CEXes, complaints, deaths, near-misses, MDT discussions, M&M, learning from error, teaching events, MSF, patient feedback. Frameworks and prompts only, in line with current GMC guidance on AI-generated reflective content. Trainees write the answers in their own words, on their own cases, in their own voice — the library provides the questions an experienced supervisor would ask.

Audience
Foundation, core, and specialty trainees writing reflective entries for ePortfolio (Horus, NES, Kaizen, Turas) and ARCP submission.
Estimated launch
In scoping. Launch planned for early 2027.
Format
  • Word document templates
  • Multi-specialty coverage
  • Frameworks and prompts only

Clinical Audit & QIP Kit

A working kit for clinical audit and quality improvement projects across UK postgraduate training.

Covers the audit cycle from topic selection through second-cycle re-audit, with PDSA cycle templates, audit-cycle frameworks, Model for Improvement scaffolding, data collection and analysis templates, presentation templates, and worked examples per specialty area (medicine, surgery, EM, anaesthetics, primary care, paediatrics). Less seasonal than the portfolio kits — every UK trainee completes audit and QIP work multiple times across training, mapped to ARCP requirements.

Audience
All UK postgraduate trainees and Foundation Year doctors required to complete audit and QIP for ARCP, plus consultants leading service-level audit programmes.
Estimated launch
In scoping. Launch planned for 2027.
Format
  • Word + Excel kit
  • Multiple methodology frameworks
  • Specialty worked examples

ST3 Portfolio Kits

Specialty-specific portfolio preparation kits for ST3/ST4 specialty training applications — for the most competitive specialties.

Per-specialty kits aligned to current scoring frameworks for the competitive specialties where applicants prepare for months. Evidence claim templates, supporting statement frameworks, cover letter templates, and annotated weak-vs-strong calibration sets. The portfolio component of ST3 selection is consistently undersold relative to interview prep, despite scoring weight being comparable. First specialty kit will ship before the November application cycle for that year.

Audience
Trainees applying for ST3/ST4 entry to anaesthetics, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, GP, and other competitive specialties.
Estimated launch
In scoping. First specialty kit timed for the 2027/2028 application cycle (target: shipped before October 2027).
Format
  • Per-specialty kits
  • Word + Excel templates
  • Annotated exemplars
A — On promises

A note on roadmap honesty.

Software roadmaps are routinely abused. They’re used to suggest products that don’t exist, to keep customers engaged on the promise of features that will never ship, or to let companies sell vapour while the real product underdelivers. We don’t want to do any of that.

The three products on this page are real and in active development. They’re on this page because we’re committed enough to them that we’re willing to be held publicly to the launch dates. If a product slips, we’ll update the page with revised dates and explain why. If a product is cancelled, we’ll remove it from the page and explain why. The expectation we’re setting for ourselves is that the roadmap is a commitment, not a wish list.

What you will not see on this roadmap: speculative features, “Q4 2027 platform modules,” AI agent capabilities, blockchain integrations, or any other line item that exists primarily as marketing. If we’re not actively building it, it’s not here.
